Yoga

Yesterday was my first yoga class — ever. I can't say that I had a real expectation of what it would be like and yet I was quite surprised. For some reason I thought there would be a lot of sitting on my butt and breathing. I was painfully mistaken. Within moments of starting the hour and 15 minute class it was made clear that I have muscles that have not been used recently.

Even though it was much more of a workout than I had expected, it was quite enjoyable and relaxing. I am really glad that it is more active and still has the calming sense. I started the classes to help with my stress levels and openly except any other beneficial factors. It is nice that I can count it as a workout too. I can't say that one part of my body is particularly sore &mdahs; my body is just informing me that every single part of my body has a little muscle that worked yesterday.

Oh yes, and forget not being bendy ... I have no balance.

I can't believe you actually posted something! Congrats on trying out yoga. I love the simple classes where you run through sun salutations and different poses. (I'm pretty sure I would absolutely hate Hot Yoga.) Your balance will definitely get better with practice. Your muscles firm up and give you a better foundation to stand on. Anyway, I'm jealous and you've inspired me!
