Grass is for eating

If you were a cat wouldn't you love to chew and eat this lovely grass? Imagine being an indoor cat without a yard and then one day a tiny little lawn of your own appeared. Wouldn't that be glorious?

A few days ago Whole Foods had kitty grass on sale for $1.99. As you can guess Dan and I purchased one (container not one blade of grass). Since then we have been trying so hard to get Aleph and Fifo to eat the grass. We have been successful in getting them to paw it or sit near it, but that is about all.

Things we have done to the grass to make it more appealing:

If you click on the image it will take you to more pictures; some of them even have kitties in them. So anyways, now we are left with a small square of grass in the middle of the floor. Does anyone have any suggestions of what would make grass more appetizing to a couple of cats?

Kitty grass?! That's awesome! We should go pick up some kitty grass. Moxie's always begging us to let her outside so I wonder if she would like it. With her, we'd probably put her ferret toy inside the grass since she loves anything that looks like a mouse and makes noise when you move it (either rattley (sp?) or with a bell). Maybe you could get them a noisy toy they can "hunt" for? I'm not sure what kind of toys they like, but that's what works for us.

That's weird; Fou goes through that stuff before it can grow. I can't find a place that sells it pre-grown here, and if I get the seeds he'll dig them up and eat them once the first blade breaks the surface. Sorry, no advice.

Leeroy doesn't have kitty grass, no help here; however, our cat back home does eat grass *all the time*. Alas, it is an outdoor cat. The only useful observation I have to add is that our cat likes the wide blades better than the skinny ones -- whatever that means. I usually pick a couple of those and hold them in its face and that usually does the trick.

How sad, it sounds like these kitties just aren't grass kitties. You guys all obviously have kitties that love grass.

Over the last three days, I've probably said, "EAT YOUR DAMNED GRASS," at least a dozen times.
