Kitty toys
As I mentioned, on thanksgiving Dan and I went to our friend Rich's house. He too has a cat. He also has a laser pointer which showed to be great amusement when a cat is around. In constant search for kitty toys Dan and I immediately agreed that we needed to get a laser pointer of our own for Aleph and Fifo.
Clearly this called for a trip to Fry's. Don't worry this is not going to digress into a rabid day after thanksgiving biggest shopping day of the year adventure to fry's story. Boy was that fun — actually it was. The point is that we got a laser pointer.
We also got another toy for them on Saturday; a squiggle ball. This thing is a plastic ball around 4" in diameter and with a AA battery it squiggles around the floor. It works surprisingly well at navigating around the house and also quite well at getting the attention of two very silly kitties.
Needless to say Aleph and Fifo are happy little guys. Perhaps excited and crazy would be a better way to describe their reactions. The recent spaziness is particularly odd for Fifo. Aleph, he is always a nut and easy to get riled up. Fifo is usually sweet and he spends his time trying to find a calm place to lay around. My goodness we have unleashed the furry in Fifo! Since the introduction of these new toys we have seen a whole new cat.
Overall finding new kitty toys has been a major bonus. The cats love them and Dan can watch the kitties chase that little red dot for hours (admittedly, so can I). It brings much giggling to the house.

I like your choice of images. Although, I'd use the Laser from Real Genius as the second link called 'laser'.

Why not the real airborne laser? Admittedly, it's way less sexy because, well, COILs don't emit in the visible spectrum. In fact, I can't think of any chemical lasers that put out any significant energy in the visible. COILs are about the closest at 1.3 microns...but that's still IR.
And yes, I know the artists for the ABL website drew a visible beam. Damned artists!
...oh, did I miss the point?

I tried getting Moxie to chase a laser dot but she simply refuses. I think she rejects all toys that she can't bite and/or kick.

My guess is that Aleph and Fifo still think they are going to catch it to bite.
Awhile back we also finally got the stick of feathers toy (you know what I mean, the one Moxie likes) — good call with that toy.
